Was your request for a Ambassador dealt with in an efficient and timely fashion?
Very timely and efficient with lots of offers of help
Please describe the activity carried out by the Ambassador
- DNA extraction from an onion
- Making batteries out of potatoes, apples, lemons and bread
- Exploding coke and mentos
- Neuroscience- brain activities such as making plasticine neurons, demonstrating the brain using eggs!
Did the visit link directly to the curriculum or work-related learning requirements? If so, how?
The Ambassadors came in during the schools science week when all the children were involved in a range of hands on science activities. The sessions ran by the ambassadors fitted in well and were all age appropriate and efficiently prepared for.
Do you feel that the Ambassador(s) had a positive impact on the pupils? If so please describe how.
The pupils really enjoyed the workshops that were made fun and practical with a great balance between the knowledge bit and the hands on side! The assembly that Leo gave about being a scientist was particularly inspirational and he had prepared a very good power point show. Tamsin made the children aware of a branch of science they may not have known about before.
Do you feel that the Ambassador(s) had a positive impact on the staff? If so, please describe how.
The Ambassadors were very well prepared and gave the teachers some ideas that they might be able to use themselves next year for science week
Do you have any useful tips for other teachers on how to plan activities with Ambassadors?
Keep in touch and co-ordinate about resources well before hand to ensure your workshops run smoothly.
Any other comments? eg future plans for more Ambassador involvement
An excellent provision for the delivery of science.
