Olaf Rinvolucri

Olaf Rinvolucri talks about the positive relationships forged with employers during a STEM teachers' training day organised by STEMPOINT Devon & Cornwall.

Do you feel that the training day had a positive impact on the staff? If so, please describe how.

Yes. Awareness of what is going on in industry helps us teachers in the classroom. It establishes good practice in relating what we do in the classroom to the ‘real world’ of engineering.

Do you have any useful tips for other teachers on how to plan activities with SEAs?

Advance preparation. Ensure the SEAs are good public speakers who can motivate pupils

Any future plans for more involvement with STEMNET?

We are establishing links with a couple of local engineers as a result of this project.
The STEMNET program is very ambitious but beneficial. Working with other departments in school helps break down subject barriers.
