Lord Mandelson visits STEM Ambassador at the Big Bang Fair - March 2010
Rob Wellman, a STEM Ambassador from the Building Services Engineering sector, invited Lord Mandelson to become a “Low Carbon Hero” when he visited the SummitSkills exhibition stand at the Big Bang Fair at Manchester Central.

Ambassadors working with SummitSkills gave those visiting the Fair information about the wide range of career opportunities in the Building Services Engineering sector, which includes a wide range of new environmental technologies. Students also tried their hand at being in charge of a virtual Building Services Engineering team at the ‘Summit Holiday Village’.
The 'Summit Holiday Village' is a careers game to experience a day in the life of a building services engineer, making 'real' decisions that impact on costs and the environment. The player has to navigate through a fantasy holiday village, testing their skills and knowledge along the way on issues relating to building services engineering, sustainability and renewables.
