As part of their Science in Schools programme, the British Council in France are looking for a UK-based researcher, engineer, or STEM Ambassador with a passion for science communication, to run new workshops in primary and secondary schools throughout France.
For the last ten years, they have worked in partnership with the French Ministry of Education to manage the scheme, which involves UK-based researchers or engineers visiting French schools to deliver interactive, engaging and hands-on science workshops in English on a variety of STEM topics.
Volunteers will need to be available for one full week and workshop proposals must have already been tested and approved in the UK.
The terms and conditions of the workshops are:
- the British Council will cover all costs related to travel, accommodation and subsistence for a UK team (maximum three members), plus any products or materials needed (up to a total value of £1000) that are not readily available in French schools. The British Council does not cover fees
- the duration of workshops must be between one and two hours at primary level and between two and four hours at secondary level. Depending on the duration, there may be 9-15 workshops per week in total
- teams or individuals will be accompanied by a British Council France staff member and/or a local education representative throughout the week
The deadline for applications is 15 January 2017.
