STEM Ambassador Schemes – working with partners

STEMNET works in partnership with several employers and skills councils in the STEM sector to provide the Ambassadors schemes below.

Why join a scheme?
Joining a scheme gives you access to more STEM Ambassador opportunities, and ensures that you are notified of volunteering opportunities relevant to your field.

Some schemes provide extra resources or training that you can use in your STEM Ambassador activity.

Some volunteering opportunities are only open to members of a particular scheme (eg, BT’s e-mentoring programme for their employees who are members of the TIT Ambassadors scheme)
You will be joining a cohesive programme to promote your industry sector and contributing to the sustainability of the work-force.

How do I join a scheme?
BT IT Ambassadors and Construction Ambassadors require sign-up through their coordinators (see below for details).

For other schemes, simply go to your profile on the STEMNET database at https://db.stemnet.org.uk and edit the “Qualifications” tab.  There is a drop-down menu for schemes: select the one you would like to join.

Please also ensure your Data Protection settings allow us to share your information with the non-STEMNET coordinator of the scheme.

Data protection
Membership of these schemes is contingent upon your agreement to share your contact details and Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) status with the non-STEMNET party involved in the scheme (ie, the UKIE for Video Games Ambassadors).    Details will only ever be sent to the main coordinator at the institution, skills council, or employer, and no unnecessary information will be sent.  We will not send your full home address, for example, though your postcode will be included to give an idea of where scheme members are based.  This is useful when ensuring that requests you are sent are for events local to you.  If you would like more information on this, please contact Kat Sandford, National STEM Ambassadors Programme Manager, on kat.sandford@stemnet.org.uk.
