Build your own club
STEMNET can provide excellent ways of helping you to establish a successful and inventive after school STEM club:
STEM Ambassadors
It is recommended that clubs have a minimum of two adult helpers. STEMNET can help you recruit non-school helpers through its network of sub-regional contract holders. They will help you source STEM experts in your area who are willing to volunteer their time for free. Non-school helpers can add a fresh perspective on science and engineering and bring with them their own positive experiences of STEM and the current working environment.
The video below shows STEM Ambassadors helping students at a club to design wind turbines at Pershore High School, Worcester. This will give you greater insight into how STEM Ambassadors can help you run a successful club.
Industry involvement
You can also arrange industry visits or talks from outside speakers. They are a great way to inspire students regarding possible STEM careers or spark interesting debates and discussions. Businesses are eager to help schools in their area and encourage a future generation of motivated and skilled STEM employees.
STEMNET can help you access and build links with relevant local businesses through its network of sub-regional contract holders known as STEMPOINTs.
